Description

Okay so Firth is still my favorite mare of the batch, but this girl is a close second. I was going about constructing her racing career when I realized she's a 2010 (aka 6 in my alt universe) which means she raced in the year of Akila and Weekend Abroad who were notable FREAKS and a HALF. So for reference, Coriolis finished third to Weekend Abroad, then Akila. Her three second place finishes in her 3yo season were to Weekend Abroad. Her second place finishes her 4yo year were to a waning Akila, and although Akila retired in July following a spiked fever going into the Woodward - I as god of my little HARPG universe can tell you that Coriolis would still have finished out her 4yo seasons as strongly and dare I say beaten my own mare, Akila, had she stayed in the game.

Also this mare is by far the classiest mare in foal in this auction and thus will be difficult to win. She never finished below fourth in 18 starts, and her only losses were to Akila (whose like a 94 in talent) and Weekend Abroad (Also in the 90s). She also won the Beldame Invitational two years in a row, and retired a 100 percent sound after a well deserved and redemptive win in the Distaff.

Name: Coriolis
Height: 15.3 hh
Genotype: EE Aa nSb

Personality: For a Storm Cat she's a sweet heart. She was tough and aggressive on the track, but hardly mean or spooky as Storm Cats so frequently are. She's hot, hot, hot, but she never aims to hurt her people. With other mares she's agreeable enough, but hardly a pushover.

Stud Choice: Convenience. Coriolis gave birth to a fully developed stillborn and went into season near immediately. Gunslinger had just retired and Coriolis's owner had always liked the colt, particularly how long he raced and his grit. There was an open slot that day in Gunslinger's book, rather than wait for the already distraught mare to potentially go into season her owner decided to breed her then and there.

Reason for Sale: Her owner primarily focuses on racing, not breeding but kept Coriolis because of her impressive career and soft spot for the mare. She's decided to sell so that she has plenty of funds to invest in the two year old sales in the coming year.
